Break the Cycle of Homelessness

December 8, 2015
BridgeImage_resizedAfter two years of homelessness, Katie, Erin and their mom were welcomed into the Bridge Communities family.
Since they’ve been with us, they’ve been connected to so many resources they needed: a safe apartment; tutors for the girls; interview coaching and scholarship assistance for their mom.
But, the children still have a long road ahead of them, because they were left traumatized by their years of homelessness. Erin was reading two years behind her grade level, and Katie needed speech therapy. Both children showed signs of anxiety as well.
We’ve been helping families long enough to know that it takes a lot to recover from this trauma–and that families can’t fully heal without your help.
That’s why we’re asking you to help Break the Cycle of Homelessness. Will you make a gift today?
Through this new initiative, you can help ensure that Katie, Erin and all of Bridge’s children gain all the tools necessary to start anew, including:
  • Developmental assessment and case management of each child
  • Support groups for children recovering from trauma, divorce and loss
  • Sports, clubs and enrichment activities
  • College prep, including campus tours, ACT tutoring, application assistance and scholarships
  • Parenting classes and training for parents on how to advocate within their child’s school system
  • Resources to connect parents to school districts, counselors, medical providers, and community centers, so children can continue to receive services long after they graduate from Bridge.
By donating to Break the Cycle of Homelessness, you will be a hero to Bridge children–today, and in the years to come. You will make a lasting impact, because you were there when they needed you the most.
Children who have suffered from homelessness are at their most vulnerable, and we owe them our best interventions and resources. Their future depends on it.
Katie and Erin’s mom says, “Thank you for giving us a safe home through Bridge. I promise to keep doing my best for my girls. And I ask you to help my girls become their best.”
On behalf of Katie, Erin and the 230 Bridge children that are recovering from untold trauma–thank you for believing in their potential, and for helping Break the Cycle of Homelessness.
